All Educational Institutions in Islamabad Shut Down

All educational institutions in Islamabad have been closed today as a precautionary decision to ensure public safety. The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, announced on Wednesday that schools, colleges, and universities across the province will remain shut for the day. Students and parents are advised to stay tuned to official government channels and education boards for further announcements regarding exam rescheduling and reopening timelines. Having lived through similar emergency closures during my time in Pakistan, I know these sudden shutdowns, while disruptive, are taken seriously by local families who quickly adjust their daily routines.

The Government of Punjab has officially postponed all examinations scheduled for today, May 7, 2025 , across the province . This includes exams in public colleges , private colleges , universities , and institutions under the oversight of the Punjab Higher Education Department . The decision was made following approval from the competent authority , as stated in an official notification issued earlier this morning.

As per the directive, every exam planned for Wednesday, May 7, 2025 , will now be rescheduled . However, new dates have not announced yet , leaving many students in a state of uncertainty. Having covered similar announcements in the past, I can say that such delays often create logistical challenges for both educational bodies like the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) and the provincial government .
